Kundalika Field Trip Reflection

We reached the campsite late morning. We went to our tents to take a few things out of our bags, and then we went for activities.

For the activities we were divided into three groups. Each group had to make a name and a war-cry and after we had done that we had to tell everybody our name and war-cry. My groups name was"Epic Bullseye" and our
 war-cry was:
 "Bullseye Bullseye Go Bullseye!!
After all the teams had called out their name and war-cry we had to make a flag for our team with a cloth that was given to us. The flag had to be light and also one that we could carry around with us and wave. For our flag we had to use natural things, so we could not use things like paint and sketch pens. We made a border using the petals of fallen down flowers by rubbing them on the cloth, which came out as a orange border. In the middle using some wet mud we made something like a sun and in the centre of that we made an eye using some charcoal that we found and then we rubbed some ash. After that we went for lunch.

After lunch, we played a few games on our own and then we changed for kayaking. We took our hats and towels along and some of us wore either our t-shirt or shorts or even both shirt and shorts.  We also had to wear life-jackets. When we reached the lake we were going to kayak in, one of the Pugmarks guides showed us how to move around in a kayak. Since there were only two kayaks we had to use one for the girls and the other for the boys. While two groups were in the kayaks the rest of us could swim around in a specific area of the water.

After all of us finished kayaking we went back to our tents to wash up and fool around for some time, then went for dinner. After dinner we went for activities again. We played a game called rickshaw, bus and bullock cart. In this game we ourselves had to make these vehicles using our own body. Each team had to make one vehicle and based on our vehicle we had to also make up a story. My team got bullock cart. For the wheels of the cart two boys from my team rolled up into a circle and I as the plank of wood on the carts lay down on them the other two people who were left were girls and they made the bulls. After that we listened to the sounds of some of the birds and then just for a few minutes some of us looked for constellations in the sky and then we went for bed (it was lights out from about 9:00 - 9:30). After lights out we were allowed to whisper to each other and talk so my friend and I spoke for some time and then I went to sleep.

The next morning we woke up at 6:30 - 7:00. After we dressed we did some warm - up exersices and then we went for breakfast. After that we went for rafting. It took us about half an hour to get to the Kundalika river, which is where we went for rafting. After we had worn our life jackets and helmets we each got one a paddle, and then one of the instructors at the rafting place told us how to use the paddle and then each group
(the same ones that had been made before) got one raft each and off we went! My favourite rapid was "The John Carry".

After we came back from rafting we had a shower and then we went for zip-lining. The zip-lining was very exciting, and whoever wanted to could even go twice! After everyone had gone for zip-lining we went for kayaking again. After we finished kayaking and we had washed up we did some more activities and after that we did jungle cooking.

For jungle cooking each team was given a plate with the same ingredients in each plate, and each team had to cook something with those ingredients on a fire. My team made a sandwich with egg, onion, tomato and of course bread. We also used salt and oil. At first we wanted to make a fried egg but we forgot to put the oil so we made scrambled egg instead. We also made a papad with some onion and tomato on it. The winner was another team called "Double Trouble". After the jungle cooking was done we had a bonfire but without any marshmallows because Mr. Walsh and Ms. Dani forgot them at school! We played a few games around the fire and then we went to bed though this time "lights out" was by 10:30 - 11:00.

The next day morning whoever wanted to went for a nature trail and the rest of us either slept of played games with the others who did not go. After everybody was back and awake we went for breakfast and then we put our bags at the back of the bus and came right back home!

It was a really good trip and since the kayaking and rafting was the first time for me it was really fun!
